Project TABANG Personnel undergoes Disaster Management Training

DAVAO CITY — Project TABANG participated in the “Assessment Tools Training on Disaster Management in the Bangsamoro Region for Project TABANG Personnel” which was held on July 25-28, 2022.

The seminar-workshop was organized by the Health Ancillary Service Unit with Research Speakers Hasna Adi, Darlene Madrona and Omar John Sinsuat as the facilitators of the event.

The said workshop aims to help widen the knowledge of the participants as they tackle on issues like disasters and other risks. Ideas were shared and expounded on proper responses to such calamities and provide solutions to unforeseen problems.

Every unit of the project management office can apply lessons learned from this workshop/seminar in order to manage immediate response and allocate resources in places hit by disasters.

In order to help mitigate such challenges, the speakers gave two types of tools on how to assess in disaster management, namely: Rapid Disaster Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) and Multi-sector/ Cluster Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA) tool.

These tools aim to determine immediate relief and response requirements for particular disasters. There are phases to follow in planning and organizing to ensure that each unit of the Project Tabang are prepared and to give accurate data before going to the area.

Project Manager Dr. Tomanda D. Antok gave the closing remarks and commented that the disaster preparedness training is very important since disasters can happen anytime and anywhere. He added that, “when you help the vulnerable ones, your reward to Allah is heavier than the mountain”.
